sora
the chosen hero of the keyblade
The main character of the story, and also the one you control almost all the
time.
A cheerful and carefree 14-year-old
boy that lives in Destiny Islands with his friends, Riku and Kairi. Sora -which
means "sky" in Japanese- spends his days planning adventures and training with
wooden swords, but he has strange dreams every now and then - about a voice that
"calls him". Sora may seem simple-minded and innocent, but is very brave and has
a strong sense of justice, always going for light instead of darkness.
In Kingdom Hearts, Sora has a peaceful life. That is until the Heartless
invade the islands. A powerful weapon, the Keyblade, "chooses" him, but darkness
destroys his world and he wakes up in Traverse Town, another world.
There he meets Donald and
Goofy, two loyal minions of King Mickey. As their King left, they want to find
him, but apart from that, they have a mission: find and follow the person that
has the Keyblade. There, we have the main trio of the game. Sora and his friends
go from one world to the other sealing the worlds' keyholes, and meanwhile try
to find the King, Riku, and Kairi, whose heart is revealed to be lost. After
some time, Sora learns that he wasn't the original Keyblade chosen one, but it
was Riku, and his friends are forced to leave him, but eventually they come
back. Sora fights and beats Riku, who is in fact Ansem using his body... However,
he also learns that all the time Kairi's heart was inside of him. Sora decides to bring her back, as he impales himself with a dark Keyblade on
his chest (an event that trigger many other important ones later). He becomes a
Heartless, but Kairi brings him back shortly after. At the end of the game, Sora
defeats Ansem for once and all, and, with the help of Riku and the King Mickey,
he seals the door to Kingdom Hearts. An unlockable ending shows Sora, Donald and
Goofy walking across some countryside, until they see Pluto with a letter and
follow him...
... which is the beginning of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The three friends find a strange castle and decide to enter it. Sora goes from the basement to the deepground, in contrast with Riku who goes to the top. In there, Sora's memories are changed, as he suddenly remembers another girl in Destiny Islands: Naminé. The thing goes worse as he starts believing she gave the Oathkeeper amulet instead of Kairi, and even that this girl is in the castle waiting to be rescued. This is caused by Naminé herself, as she has the ability of re-arranging memories... the girl isn't guilty of anything though, as she is being manipulated by Organization XIII. In the end, Sora finds out the truth about it, and Naminé puts him and his friends to sleep for a year so that he can have his memories back to normal.
And
one year later, in Kingdom Hearts II, he wakes up in Twilight Town. Sora and his
friends don't remember a thing after the events of the first game, but decide to
start yet another journey to find Riku and the King. What is amusing to see is
that Sora has grown some inches and his clothes are too small; but three fairies
give Sora new and magical clothes, which allow him to perform new attacks. The
game also shows a more mature Sora, not being the confused kid of KH1 anymore.
However, his determination is still the same, and eventually, he finds Riku,
Kairi and the King. Sora also finds out that he has a Nobody: Roxas, the guy who
woke him up at the beginning of the game. He fights him and then leaves, looking
quite satisfied. Sora and Riku fight Xemnas, the leader of Organization XIII, at
the end of the game, and finally go back to their islands.
